I'm starting a new series here. Photography tips every Friday. I hope to capture what I've learned onto these pages. I've been shooting for a while now and I've leaned a lot. I'm still young of course, so I am most definitely not a master, but I think that I can help you master the art of photo just a little bit more!
First things first, your camera. It's the second most important thing in photography. Second only to your eye, in my opinion. I think that you have to practice building a strong eye; seeing the right shots and looking at the world from a different perspective. You have to practice and through practice you build every skill in your "bag."
While working on the eye you have to have a camera. Like they say, "The best camera is the one you've got." So whether you're working with an IPhone, DSLR, or anything else, whatever you have works.
The simple answer to getting used to your camera, to the controls, to the act of photography is to practice. I know you already know that, but when you're sitting around, bored, pick up the cam and look around. Get creative! Take some weird angles, mess with the framing, do whatever. As long as you're out there doing it, but doing it knowledgeably, you'll get better!
To find out that knowledge check back every Friday to learn more about the beautiful art of photography.
